Writing is easy.
Writing quality content worth reading isn’t that easy.
Everyone in the world will always tell you that in order to write quality articles you need to write and write and write and write and write again.
And that is true.
But.
There’s a major catch, that has to do with 2 processes that we do in our brain.
The first one consists of Conscious Practice
And the second one has to do with giving yourself permission to write poorly.
Conscious Practice, the rarest most valuable time in your life.
There’s one thing that is universally boring. Thinking.
And I don’t mean chatting with your own brain about the dumbest things.
I’m talking about getting into concepts, dissecting them into their smallest conceivable part and then building the whole structure again and again.
And most importantly, being willing to let the structure (the concept) fall when the criticism against it is actually true.
We tend to learn and think similarly to how a spider would craft a web.
The starting point, which is generally “comfort” (relative peace of mind, absence of fear/frustration and time constraints) allows us to weave the next string toward another shore of comfort.
And now you have a line.
A Line, the connection between 2 points, is the basic structure through which we understand the world.
Now, things get tricky once we start creating different connections that are tied to that first line.
As we progress, we will find it harder and harder to talk about that first line, because we take it for granted.
And with that I mean that we believe in the fact that the line was made because it was based on a Law.
While in truth that line was just created due to our own situation.
Hence the biggest problem with thinking is that every time you try to create a construct based on the previous idea you had, you’ll inherently stop questioning those base concepts.
You will think of them as Axioms.
Giving You Permission To Suck
How in the world can you not be able to write?
I mean,
If you are able to speak about random gibberish for a long time, then what in the world is preventing you to translate such futile concepts into paper? (or wordpress :P)
The answer is simple.
And it has to do with why people have issues performing in public.
You don’t give yourself permission to suck.
And that’s the whole deal.
If you were to not give a single damn about the quality of your writing, you would be writing without any hindrance.
Hence the Freudian Law of always talking and never stopping to do so get’s violated.
And you find yourself with nothing to say.
Which is a lie.
And has to do with how your brain works.
And Fear.
So my challenge to you is to just write, and write and write again.
And do not care about the quality.
Publish anything that comes to mind.
Then, once you are so fed up with writing, start reading what you wrote and re-write it.
Then read what other say and how they say it.
And keep writing and so on and so forth.
Have Fun.
