We have an influence.
Such influence is limited by the possibility of reaching others, whether the limits stands in money, clarity or in the fact that people need to agree with you in order for your words to make them act, that’s a variable dependent on the message and the action that we are trying to elicit.
I believe we have a few issues as creators of our reality:
-Our ideas shift way faster than our actions, hence we have troubles keeping up with them
-We are inherently focused on the short term, as in: this product needs to sell now, this idea needs to be agreed now.
These 2 problems are also what makes our world so complex and in sense “fair”.
You can shoot a movie and become famous, but most of the time you are going to have shot 999 movies before the thousandth will be a hit.
You can feel it in the music too, many musical bands tend to become “mainstream” and “boring” when they are at their peak.
I believe that “mainstream/boring” label is quite innacurate. Because in the story of the development of a band, they will have times in which they experiment and create and times in which the previous creativity is going to be condensed in what we mathematically call “elegant”.
A mainstream song, is most of the time elegant.
Simple and easy, but not that easily replicable.
At the same time, after the “mainstream” phase, most bands become predictable, because they have evolved their style, but now they have no challenge that requires them to keep evolving.
That’s a big problem, but I believe it will be solved by our own biological system that always reward effort and always punishes lazyness.
Although our “capital system” and our society is made to sell us the dream, the only people that actually are fulfilled and successful are the people that constantly strive toward personal achievement.
Here’s the catch.
Making money can be a personal achievement.
But generally comes from a frame of mind in which you perceive that you don’t have enough money.
And that’s not a bad thing.
It just means that you are focused on what you don’t have, instead of what you have.
Same goes for creativity. (which is a dumb word for dumb people)
In order to innovate, you need to have the “fundamentals” down.
You need to be so perfect on such fundamentals that you will have the conscious possibility of thinking while in the process of executing them.
This leaves free space on your brain to try new stuff
To test new patterns, and implement them in the patterns you already know.
From that point on, you will be able to be creative.
But since the equation is partly made from within yourself and partly made from outside yourself, you need to have a balance of “pleasure and frustration”
You can’t always be happy because that might mean you are fulfilled.
And from constant, eternal fulfillment comes nothing.
