Social Proximity is an Italian platform for social workers.
Social Workers, Educatori in Italian, is a recently regulated social related job that encompasses a wide variety of jobs, spanning from assisting disabled people to living with orphans or in “communities” in which the inhabitants are generally tied not because of ethnicity or cultural backgrounds but rather common issues or traumatizing upbringings.
As such the role of educatore is an extremely fragile day to day job in which each owns personal emotional reactions are purposefully filtered and altered in order to Educare (meaning socialize) people to allow them to better integrate in the current socio-cultural environment.
As hard as it is to explain, educatori are tasked not only to define the current socio-cultural situation but to shape the perception of it in the heads of those that they need to attend.
That’s why writing, with the purpose of reflecting and structuring our own’s thoughts, becomes one of the most important acts that an educatore has to consciously set out to regolarly do.
For this reason socialproximity.org was born, to “lessen the burden” of feeling alone in each own’s thoughts, to share reflections, opinions and practices, with the hope that all social workers may benefit.
